Andy Murray Bags Gold Winning His First Grand Slam

World no. 3 Scotsman, Andy Murray has defeated defending champion Novak Djokovic of Serbia in a thrilling nearly 5-hour encounter with the US Open in Arthur Ashe Stadium. The game has over after Djokovic’s service return sailed long in the last match of their game. Indeed, the crowd cheered for Murray being the first British man to capture a Grand Slam singles championship since Frede Perry in 1936. Murray said he felt “a sense of how big a moment that is in British tennis history.”

What an intense match having a score of 7-6 (10), 7-5, 2-6, 3-6, 6-2. It has been a long time when Britain men’s single had bagged again gold after 76 years. Murray also reached the Wimbledon final and won Olympic gold this summer. With the Olympic gold medal he recently won as his major tournament prize, Murray can now be considered as one of the big four. Murray was always placed fourth to Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Djokovic, who have all been ranked No. 1 in the world.
