Located just 30 minutes from the Sunshine Coast airport or a one hour drive from Brisbane, Caloundra offers a large number of beautiful sunny beaches perfect for swimming , surfing or a relaxing day with the family. Kings Beach is one of the most popular patrolled beaches in the area, with picnic and BBQ areas, playgrounds, showers and toilets. It’s the perfect place for a family trip. There’s also a free 25 metre saltwater swimming pool together with a children’s pool, wading area and disabled access. The beachfront recently went underwent a multimillion dollar upgrade and has an incredible 4km boardwalk linking a number of different beaches and ending in breathtaking views from Point Cartwright.
If you’re after some action and adventure during your holiday why not check out Australia’s largest go-kart track, or catch the shuttle to Australia Zoo and visit Steve Irwin’s famous animal park. Australia World is only 10 minutes drive away and has over 30 different amusement rides including the Southern Hemispheres largest Ferris wheel, log rides, bumper cars and the infamous “Wild Mouse” roller coaster.
For those after a more relaxed, romantic getaway why not try a picnic in the beautiful Glass House Mountains, a stroll along the peaceful Kawana Beach or have a gourmet meal at one of the gourmet restaurants along the esplanade.
Shopping in Caloundra is brilliant. From lovely little boutique clothing stores to the incredible markets at Bulcock Beach and the Caloundra Twilight Markets, there’s a bit of everything for everyone, all within a 10 minute walk!
The weather is perfect year round, with pleasant days and nights averaging at 19 degrees through winter and a lovely 27 degrees in summer.
